Meet Dr. Helena Nguyen, O.D.

Dr. Nguyen earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry. Before becoming an optometrist, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of California, Davis.

Her clinical experience has included the Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic in Los Angeles, Fort Ord Army Medical Center, Allergan Research Clinic, and optometric centers in Los Angeles and Fullerton, California.

Dr. Nguyen provides comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens evaluations and fittings, evaluation and management of eye-health concerns, and pre-operative and post-operative care coordinated with surgical specialists when appropriate. She also provides Corneal Reshaping Therapy evaluations for suitable patients.

Dr. Nguyen uses diagnostic technology alongside careful listening and patient education. Her goal is to help patients understand their eye health, available options, and the practical steps involved in their care.

Dr. Nguyen is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and a TLC Affiliated Doctor. She also volunteers with the Project Vietnam Foundation, a nonprofit humanitarian organization working to create sustainable pediatric healthcare in Vietnam, while providing free healthcare and aid to impoverished rural areas across the country.

When a patient is considering refractive or cataract surgery, Optima Optometry can provide an initial evaluation and coordinate pre-operative and post-operative care with an ophthalmic surgeon. One surgical care resource is Furlong Vision Correction.

Optima Optometry also coordinates cataract care through the Vision Specialist Network when appropriate. The patient-specific plan may include screening, referral, and follow-up care with optometrists, retina specialists, or cataract surgeons.
